The second "Startup Europe & TWIST" event of the year here in Rome will be focused on the incredible power that storytelling can give to the marketing strategy of your startup.

Telling stories is a powerful tool. Through stories we can learn, we can grow, we can better understand the world. Nothing new, of course. But today, in a Global Village where the contents we produce and share can reach the entire world, we have the opportunity to let inspirational stories shape our identity. This is why startups introducing themselves to investors must worry less about products description and focus more on trying to build empathy through powerful stories telling who they really are. Venture capitalists don’t invest on good ideas. They invest on smart people who can start from good ideas and arrive someplace else.

We will talk about it with a super speaker: Roberto Bonzio, founder of Italiani di Frontiera!

IMG_0012Born in Mestre Venice, after a career as a reporter in daily newspapers in Venice (Il Gazzettino), Milan (Il Giorno) and Reuters (covering current affairs, culture and innovation, with stories published in The Guardian, The Independent, Washington Post and New York Times), Roberto Bonzio launched his personal, independent project through the web, spending six month with his family in Palo Alto California.

Italiani di Frontiera (Frontier Italians) is a storytelling trip about the secrets of Italian talent and also examines some of the obstacles impeding Italian innovators in their own country. It has a strong presence on the web and social media, connecting Italian managers abroad and many students and young entrepreneurs, touring alla over Italy with conferences in top events, leading Silicon Valley Tours for entrepreneurs and managers.

TWIST DIGITAL is the H2020 action, under the Startup Europe umbrella, that provides Transregional Web Innovative Services for Thriving Digital and Mobile to web entrepreneurs aiming at scaling up and competing in the global market around 4 interconnected web entrepreneurship startup ecosystems and hubs (Rome, Lille, Stockholm and Warsaw).

Startup Europe aims to strengthen the business environment for web and ICT entrepreneurs so that their ideas and business can start and grow in the EU. Startup Europe contributes to the Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan.
Startup Europe's objectives are:
  • to reinforce the links between people, business and associations who build and scale up the startup ecosystem (e.g. the Web Investors Forum, the Accelerator Assembly, the Crowdfunding Network)
  • to inspire entrepreneurs and provide role models (e.g. the Leaders Club and their Startup Manifesto, the Startup Europe Roadshow)
  • to celebrate new and innovative startups (with Tech All Stars and Europioneers), help them to expand their business (Startup Europe Partnership, ACE Acceleration Programme), and give them access to funding under Horizon 2020.
